Word from the artist Éric Villeneuve:
In my work, I am mainly interested in architecture, landscapes and different elements of nature.
I first try to capture images of the same object or the same environment, varying my angle of approach.
This allows me to reconstruct an almost three-dimensional image of the photographed object, by superimposing these different shots using a computer graphics process.
Ultimately, depending on the saturation variations, this process offers an image with an almost ghostly character, in which several subtleties are hidden, detectable little by little, as the eye moves through the work.
It is as if an object reveals its multiple facets to us in a single image, or as if several different views of the same environment are revealed to us all at once: our perceptions change depending on the angle.
The memory of a place, of an object, also changes over time, losing its precision. We keep a fleeting, blurred image of it, and at times, a particular detail comes back to us, but rarely the place or the object in its entirety.
Memory is selective and often fleeting: this is what I am mainly trying to illustrate in my approach.
